Running Back 15 – Brian Robinson WAS
Brian Robinson is fully healthy entering his second season. He looks crisp with his cuts in preseason action and could be set for the most snaps in a timeshare in Washington. The running back (RB) room for the Commanders has a great 1-2 combo and both B. Robinson and Antonio Gibson are capable of having big days. Gibson is ranked 33rd in Mano y Mano Top 40, and Robinson gets the edge due to more projected playing time. Despite missing five games he started nine last year, and put up 857 yards from scrimmage and 3 touchdowns (TD). He snagged only 9 receptions last year and although he will have more this year, do not expect a large volume of passes to Robinson.
Robinson could be a 1,300 yard RB with 8+ TDs this season, even with a new Offensive Coordinator, Eric Bieniemy. Bieniemy is known for being a part of a high flying passing attack, but was a RB on the 1990 national champion Colorado Buffaloes. In fact, he still holds the Colorado University record for most rushing yards and touchdowns…. he knows a thing or two about great RB production. Robinson will benefit from this as more of an ‘old-school’ RB from Alabama. Expect a big jump from the second year star.
Linebacker 15 – De’Vondre Campbell GB
De’Vondre Campbell was injured last year and missed four games, but still managed to earn 96 combined tackles, 3 passes defended, 2 interceptions, and the highly desired, but rarely achieved IDP touchdown. The Green Bay Packers are set to enter a new era, and the reports are there is a new life around the Packers camp. Packer players are rallying around Jordan Love and the defense is fully supporting the scout quarterback they played against for three years. Campbell benefits from having playmakers around him on all three levels, although he is an All-Pro himself. Campbell wore the green-dot last year, but has been splitting the green dot with fellow linebacker (LB) Quay Walker. The expectation is for Campbell to wear it, but Walker could wear it on certain situations.
While Walker is younger and quicker to the ball, Campbell is more experienced and has a great knowledge of the game. Expect Campbell to help out new safety Jonathan Owens in coverage which should lead to more passes defended, and possibly more interceptions. Even if Walker earns more tackles, Campbell will have over 100 this year. Expect the 2021 All Pro to bounce back and have a productive season.
Thank you for reading Mano y Mano. Check in tomorrow for RB & LB #14.
