Running Back 6 – Derrick Henry TEN
Is Derrick Henry the last of the great running backs (RB)? He very well could be, and although several are ready to write off the RB due to entering his eighth season, that may not be the best fantasy decision. The two-time All-Pro has led the league in rushing attempts three times, including last season with 349. He had an amazing year by all metrics with 1,936 scrimmage yards, 13 touchdowns, and a career best 33 receptions. Although some may be worried about his eighth season, or his high volume during his career, some of the greats maintain that level of play their entire career; Jim Brown, Walter Peyton, Barry Sanders, and Ricky Williams sustained better than average numbers in their last seasons. Henry is on the same level as those RBs
While a decline is possible, Tennessee has a good wide receiver room, which should help Henry with less people in the box. Henry needs 1,665 more rushing yards to join the rare group of 31 RBs to rush for 10,000 yards in a career… and he and Nick Chubb could be the last RBs to ever do it. Henry’s ADP is the highest it has ever been, slipping as far back as the early 30s He is currently RB 7 in half point PPR. Take Henry and have a reliable RB that is capable of finishing as RB 1.
Linebacker 6 – Bobby Okereke NYG
Bobby Okereke is now in New York, on a playoff team, and playing under Don ‘Wink’ Martindale’s defense. The same Defensive Coordinator that coached Ray Lewis during the Ravens’ 2012 Superbowl run. The Giants made some big plays last year, but still gave up 22.8 points last season. Enter B. Okereke who is an amazing tackler, will sure up the rush defense and help drive down their points per game allowed. Okereke accumulated 151 tackles last season, including 99 solo tackles. He has triple digit tackles in back to back seasons, and will do it again in New York.
He is playing behind the amazing defensive line that is D. Lawerence, L. Williams, and K. Thibodeaux are as nasty as it comes, this allows B. Okereke to flow to the football and meet RBs in the hole for minimal or no gain. The Giants do not have a marquee linebacker (LB) beside Okereke and he appears to be the candidate to wear the green dot. Draft Bobby Okereke early and have one of the best LBs in the league on a team trending in the right direction.
Thank you for reading Mano y Mano. Check in tomorrow for RB & LB #5.
