This is part of a series highlighting Latin people in the Fantasy Football Industry. 12 of 30

Today the focus is on a fantasy football member who does work behind the scenes for The Sports Affiliation. Christina Verde Gilbert is the webpage designer and editor, in addition to being a fantasy sports enthusiast. A lifelong San Antonio Spurs fan, but hesistant to join a fantasy sport, she decided to try in 2017. Christina is a Tejana, a culture found in the southern half of Texas with it’s own music, celebrations, and a deep connection to their geographic area. They have kept their traditions and culture intact despite several political boundaries claiming the geographic area throughout time. The most famous Tejana is Selena Quintanilla, known better as Selena.

Christina had this to say about her fantasy football experience: I actually began playing in fantasy basketball and will be in my seventh year of fantasy basketball this season. During my second season I made it to the championship, losing in a close match up. I grew up in San Antonio and watching The Spurs dynasty as a kid, and my love of basketball has always remained. I have participated in the charity league, FF7s, all four years, and I have made the playoffs the past two years. I participated in my first bestball league this year in Dethrone the King against FSWA Hall of Fame member Scott ‘The King’ Engel. It was not only my first bestball, but my first time to play without IDPs, so a bit different but I will participate in more next year.

Christina’s work is found via this article and every other aspect of The Sports Affiliation website, and she can be found @greenstina877 Please give her a follow.

Thank you reading, please come back tomorrow as we highlight another Latin in the Fantasy Football Community
