So, if you have been following the journey of the Los Angeles Lakers so far, you will note that the Lakeshow fell back to earth yesterday against the hot Golden State Warriors. If fact, a few things we mentioned did not come to pass, making yesterday’s loss another footnote for “reasons why the Lakers won’t win it all this season:”
- Lakers scored under 30 points in the 1st quarter yesterday
- D’Angelo Russell did not hit his 20-point mark
- Coach Ham went heavy on Taurean Prince AGAIN in the absence of LeBron
If you’ve read that before, then some aspects of betting on this team (to win the Championship, wins against top-10 teams, etc.) may seem far-fetched. However the consistency in how the Lakers perform actually give me a better outlook on aspects to cash on, starting with the Spurs.
Tonight, LBJ is back from rest/recovery and is looking to change things against Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs. The season is 1-1, but that initial loss was due more to the Lakers playing down, than the Spurs playing up. Therefore, you better punch that ML for Los Angeles. Coach Pop is still getting his team to understand how to defend late in big spots. This game won’t depend as much on the line-up for the Lakers, but more on how the Lakers start this game. Here are a few more things I’m hammering home:
- AD rebounds – 14 – Despite Wemby being in the middle, he can’t grab em all! I’m taking the over
- Reaves 3-points made (1.5) – given the volume that Taurean Prince takes, AR still finds the open pick n pop spots. This is is 50-50 but I think he’ll hit again tonight!
Keep a lookout for more on this game and more going forward!
