Last week in NFL it was a whirlwind! Come to think of it, every week is, and that’s why we love it, right? Last week, we discussed potential waiver wire additions for those participating in Scott Fish Bowl 14 (SFB14) or any league that includes return yards. Let’s face it: Rashid Shaheed will be a hot topic if he and Derek Carr can continue to connect like this! We already discussed how DeAndre Carter became a key option in the Bears’ passing game due to Keenan Allen’s heel injury and being the primary returner. Carter’s performance in SFB14 has been consistent, scoring 27 points in week 1 and 17 in week 2. Derius Davis and DeeJay Dallas offered little to no production in week 1 but you can swap them out for these players.
Ray-Ray McCloud III
Ray-Ray McCloud III has come back to the East Coast following two seasons in San Francisco. Ray-Ray is not just a fun name to say; it brings back memories of watching Stuart Scott on SportsCenter while growing up, if you know you know! Ray-Ray has proven to be a crucial part of the Falcons’ offense early in the season, especially with Rondale Moore sidelined for the year. In watching the Falcons’ offense, it seems that Zac Robinson’s goal is to stretch the defense as much as possible. Ray-Ray has field-stretching speed and acts as the primary slot receiver for the Falcons. In week two, Ray-Ray was on the field for every offensive possession. The Falcons play the Chiefs in week 3, a team always looking to score points. The question is will the Chiefs who have only allowed two kick returns in two weeks let strong-legged Harrison Butker kick to the Landing Zone? Ray-Ray McCloud III is only rostered in six percent of Sleeper leagues and is a good bet to be on waivers, go check!
Kenneth Gainwell
There are several surprising teams in this young season, with the New Orleans Saints being the most notable, averaging forty-five points per game. A bigger eyebrow-raiser is that Blake Grupe is averaging seven kickoffs per game. That is how good the Saints Offense is humming right now. The Saints Special Teams have given up 353 yards to returners, which is 128 yards more than the second team, the Bears. This week, Kenneth Gainwell may see more action as a kick returner after facing the Atlanta Falcons, who have prevented any kick-off returns by other teams. Kenneth Gainwell is also the backup to Saquon Barkley, it would seem after Will Shipley has not touched the field once with the offense. Should an injury occur to the Eagles’ number one running back, Gainwell could have more value and be considered for the flex position in a good Eagles offense. Kenneth Gainwell is rostered in five percent of Sleeper Leagues.
