Thursday Night Football News/Injuries: Buccaneers @ Falcons

BUCCANEERS INJURIES

Luke Goedeke Tackle – (Concussion) is Ruled Out for Thursday night’s matchup with the Falcons.

The third-year offensive lineman from Central Michigan, Goedeke, is set to miss his third straight game due to a concussion. Justin Skule is anticipated to remain the Buccaneers’ starting right tackle until Goedeke is able to clear the concussion protocol.

Calijah Kancey Defensive Lineman – (Calf) is Ruled Out for Thursday night’s matchup with the Falcons.

Kancey has not seen any action this season after injuring himself during practice in preparation for Week 1. Coach Todd Bowles informed Greg Auman of Fox Sports that Kancey has not experienced any setbacks, and if the game were on Sunday, he could potentially be ready to play. He should be good to go for Week 6.

Jalen McMillan Wide Receiver(Hamstring) is Ruled Out for Thursday night’s matchup with the Falcons.

Tampa Bay’s wide receiver depth is going to be faced with a challenge in Week 5, as McMillan will be sidelined alongside Trey Palmer (concussion) on Thursday. Kameron Johnson and Sterling Shepard are expected to step in as the primary backup options behind Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.

Tre Palmer Wide Receiver(Concussion) is Ruled Out for Thursday night’s matchup with the Falcons.

Palmer stepped up as the Buccaneers’ No. 3 wide receiver in Week 4 while Jalen McMillan was out with a hamstring injury. However, he now needs to go through the head injury protocol to be eligible to play again. In his supporting role, Palmer had a solid performance, recording 3 catches for 26 yards and a touchdown, along with a 14 yard kickoff return and a 5 yard punt return. With a quick turnaround for Thursday’s away game against the Falcons, it may be challenging for Palmer to receive clearance from an independent neurologist in time. Meanwhile, Kameron Johnson and Sterling Shepard will serve as backup wide receivers behind Mike Evans and Chris Godwin for the remainder of Sunday’s game.

Antoine Winfield Jr Safety(Foot) is Ruled Out for Thursday night’s matchup with the Falcons.

Winfield has not participated in any practice sessions or games since Week 1 against the Commanders. Coach Todd Bowles informed Greg Auman of Fox Sports that Winfield might still be a bit off from returning to game action, suggesting that his availability for Week 6 in New Orleans isn’t even assured, let alone Week 5.

FALCONS INJURIES

Troy Anderson Linebacker – (Knee) is Ruled Out for Thursday night’s matchup with the Buccaneers.

The third-year linebacker will be sidelined for the Falcons’ Week 5 divisional clash after suffering a knee injury in the fourth quarter of their Week 4 victory over the Saints. Andersen has been a force to be reckoned with, amassing 44 total tackles and one pick-six in the first four games. In his absence, expect JD Bertrand to step up and take on a larger role with Atlanta’s first-team defense.

Jase McClellan Running Back – (Illness) is Questionable for Thursday night’s matchup with the Buccaneers.

McClellan appeared on the Falcons’ injury report Wednesday as a limited participant in practice due to an illness. The rookie running back from Alabama has been a healthy scratch for all four of Atlanta’s games this season, so his absence on Thursday night wouldn’t be a major blow to the team.
