Lights, camera, and Week 8 was full of action! Charlie Jones kicked off the week in style by returning the opening kick for 100 yards to score a touchdown. Can we please have the Lions and Vikings play each other every week? The Chiefs are still undefeated! As a Raiders fan, it’s hard for me to admit it. Week 7 also saw numerous injuries, and with big names that will be sidelined for a long time.

Last week we discussed the potential impact of Sean Tucker and Kalif Raymond on your fantasy football teams. With Jameson Williams facing a suspension, it’s advisable to pick up Kalif Raymond before he’s no longer available. Investing in the Lions’ offense could also be beneficial. However, with Sean Tucker, we may need to exercise more patience. Despite averaging 5.8 yards per carry, he only had five carries against the Ravens. It seems that Tampa Bay has transitioned to a full running back committee, ouch! Here are some players who could enhance your return game in Week 8.

Justice Hill

Look, this is Derrick Henry’s backfield period.  In the last two weeks, Justice Hill has been getting opportunities in the return game, averaging 47 yards on kick returns. KaVontae Turpin leads the league with an average of 43 yards. This illustrates how effective Hill has been with his opportunities recently.  Coach Harbaugh a former special team coordinator is taking notice and Hill may have found himself on the field for more kick returns.  This week the Ravens play in division rivals the Cleveland Browns.  The Browns have a long list of issues and add giving up return yards to the list.  The Browns are fourth lowest in touchback percentage with 52%.  This shows that the Browns will kick to their opponents, and they give their opponents over five kickoff returns chances per game.  The NFL is a long season and we saw in Week 7 that the injury bug can bite at any moment.  With Hill being a part of this offense as well it is a head-scratcher that he is available in 68 percent of sleeper leagues.

Marvin Mims

The Scott Fish Bowl 14 (SFB14) is unique in that it can make players who are usually not relevant in most fantasy football leagues viable options. For example, Marvin Mims has not been a focal point in the Broncos’ offense. However, he is highlighted in the return game. Last week in New Orleans, Mims the Bronco’s primary kick and punt returner had 120 total return yards and scored 18.9 points, making him a viable option in SFB14. This week, the Broncos will be playing against the Panthers, a team that allows an average of 41.5 net punt yards per game. Mims leads in punt return yards per game and averages over ten points per game in SFB14. With all the injuries affecting receivers, picking up Mims and playing him this week is not an unreasonable option. Mims is currently rostered in five percent of Sleeper leagues.
