RB #3 Jahmyr Gibbs DET

The Detroit Lions are in a great state of change. Their coaching staff has been decimated and change for the Lions is a guarantee. However if new Offensive Coordinator John Morton is wise he will use Jahmyr Gibbs early and often. Gibbs played every game last season, but started just four games. Despite that he played 690 snaps, including 83 in the slot or split out wide. The rest came from the backfield, where he does most of his damage.

Even though he started just four games he led the league in rushing (16) and total (20) touchdowns. Gibbs also earned 1,412 rushing yards, 52 receptions, 517 receiving yards, 95 first downs, and only 1 fumble. He has recorded 52 receptions in back-to-back seasons, and is a dual threat running back. The Lions have two great running backs who will be productive again. Although Gibbs has a high floor and season, consistency could be an issue depending on how Morton utilizes them.

Gibbs is an elite talent, that has lived up to his expectations. He is drafted as a top three RB in almost every draft, and the price is high in auction leagues. He’s the RB #3 and a consensus fourth overall pick. For teams drafting after the sixth spot, it’s almost impossible to get him.

LB #3 Robert Spillane NE

The New England Patriots have a new general in town, and he’s a good one. Robert Spillane arrives on a team with a new Head Coach, Mike Vrabel, and a new defensive coordinator, Terrell Williams. This trio will look to make a big impact on the defensive side of the ball. Spillane is on his third in four years, but really made a mark with the Las Vegas Raiders. Over the last two seasons he started 34 games, and earned 306 combined tackles. He also accumulated 5 interceptions, 11 passes defended, and 5.5 sacks.

Spillane comes in with Milton Williams from the Philadelphia Eagles, and Harold Landry III from the Tennessee Titans to improve the box. Spillane will have the privilege of playing behind a great defensive line, which should help his stats. Although his sack numbers could decrease, he is still set to have a great tackling numbers. His pass defense is underrated as the interceptions and passes defended attest to. Spillane played 1,093 snaps last season, and 54 of them were in secondary positions.

Spillane is wearing the important “green dot” and was specifically sought out by the new regime. He is being undervalued as a linebacker, but he’s not going too late in most drafts. Grab him and know he is a “set and forget” linebacker.
